I don’t actually know Clare, but she’s very near and dear to my heart. Her print “Undertow” was one of my very first purchases way back when I discovered Etsy. It hung in the tv room of our old home and I would find myself staring at it more often than I stared at the tv in that room. It drew me right in, every single time.

The blended colors, the textural, background, the anonymous woman…all coming together in a beautiful piece of art. Clare’s body of work includes a solid mix of abstracts, figures, and still lifes. I happen to like her figural paintings best, but quite honestly I’d buy any one of them for my home!

Here’s a bit about Clare from the bio on her website:

“I was born in 1982 in Pasadena, California. After attending public art high school in Los Angeles, I went to Boston for college, at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. My paintings are inspired by daydreams, retreat and the formidable nature outside my window. I am currently in the process of renovating a new house and studios in the town of Inverness, California with my artist husband Kai Samuels-Davis https://www.etsy.com/shop/kaisamuelsdavis

Yep, you read that right, her husband is an artist too. I have one of his paintings in my living room and it is gorgeous. Two artists in one home?! I imagine their house must be insanely beautiful.

Clare has a very large selection of affordable prints available on her website and a few originals available too. Of course, she sells her prints on Etsy too. I would also suggest following Clare on Instagram. I love that her feed is currently a mix of her beautiful paintings along with messages regarding the fight to end racial injustice.

Here are just a few of my many favorites from Clare’s collection:

I mean I could keep going and going, but I’ll let you explore the rest on your own.

If you’ve got some blank walls in your home, do yourself a favor and scroll through Clare’s work. If you find a piece that speaks to your soul, buy it. It will get you one step closer to a home you love.

Wishing you a beautiful, and healthy, week ahead!
