How to Shop For Your Home While Supporting Small Business Owners
Sometimes I feel like my home needs a little pick me up. Usually once every season, things start to feel stale and boring. This seems especially true in the dead of winter. Typically I do seasonal pillow round ups, but this time I thought it might be fun to expand into other realms of my favorite black hole called Etsy. For real…once I dive in there I can never get out in a timely manner. I feel the same way about Target actually, which is why my bill is always 18 times what it was supposed to be in the first place!
Anyway…here’s a deep dive into my Etsy favs, which may or may not currently stand at 845. Feel free to avoid confirming that.
Pillow Covers

As far as the 2 sister pillows go (number 4 and number 9), I couldn’t decide whether I liked the gray version or white version better. They are equally lovely.
Keep in mind, when you’re purchasing pillow covers, do not buy any that are smaller than 20 inches, with the exception of a lumbar for your sofa. I prefer 22 inch covers which I fill using 24 inch inserts (or 24’s with 26 inch inserts). An insert that is 2 inches larger will keep your pillows nice and fluffy, nothing looks sadder than a saggy deflated pillow.
Ceramics
I’m thinking about snatching up the 3rd piece for my mantle…cheese board turned sculpture…why not?!
I own the piece on the top left already, although I customized mine by turning the bells into an oval shape (so that it would lay flat on the wall) and choosing a matte finish. That’s the beautiful thing about Etsy…so many options to customize items and get exactly what you want!
Art
It’s true, I do want to be the girl with the most cake. Or scones. I’m not picky, as far as carbs are concerned.
If you’re a regular reader here you already know about my art obsession. These are just a few of the thousands I love. Some have been in my favorites file for a long time. I still adore them as much today as I did when I first joined Etsy.
As far as art goes, please do not worry about what your mom, sister, neighbor, fill in the blank, thinks about your choice! Their opinion is 100 percent irrelevant. So is mine, really. Art is a very personal thing. Honestly, if we all liked the same art, this world would be a very boring place. Moral of the story is if you love it, then buy it.
So friends, treat yourself and your home to something special this month, while supporting a small business at the same time!
Allow me to rephrase this lovely quote a bit…
Life is short. Take the trip. Buy the art. Eat the cake.
But save a piece for me!
