First things first…

(*if your brain just said “I Papa” then we are soulmates)

1. I do not know Megan. I mean maybe I should be calling her Ms. Gibbons, since we’re not on a first name basis…yet!

2. She is not paying me to highlight her art on my blog. I’m 100 percent doing this out of my own free will. #notanad

Okay, glad that’s outta the way!

I first stumbled upon Megan’s art on one of my favorite art sites: Artfully Walls. If you’re new to this blog, Artfully Walls is an awesome site to purchase art from. They have a gorgeous (and affordable) selection, and the best thing is that you can chose whatever sized print you’d like! They also offer options to purchase your print(s) with a frame. They are also not paying me to mention them on my blog. But I really want them to. Haha!

Anyway, Megan’s art immediately caught my eye during a recent search I was doing for a dear client of mine. It stopped me right in my tracks.

There’s something so peaceful about the women in her paintings. They pull me right in! I love how the women look realistic, but the backgrounds are abstract. What a beautiful combination. Of course I’m also drawn to all those blues, you know how much I love blue!

Here’s a bit about Megan sourced directly from her website:

"My work focuses on the meaningfulness in ordinary moments. The beauty of common, transitory situations. I have always gravitated toward figurative painting. I love to watch people, especially when they are lost in thought or unaware of being observed. Their gestures and mannerisms are absolutely fascinating to me. My goal is to capture a typical moment through posture and prop, an emotion through color and composition.

Some of my fondest memories are sifting through layers of old family photos with my grandmother. These images are an imprint of the past, lost or forgotten memories; they have a compelling power to tell a story while also inviting the viewer to create scenarios of their own. The figures and landscapes evolve into new personas and atmospheres. The images are heavily layered and abstracted, much like our own memories. I use these found, created and inherited images as a catalyst for my work."

I decided I will be purchasing one of her prints as soon as I get my home office together. Note to self: get office together. I’m currently playing with this one on Framebridge, which is an awesome site for framing!

I have gotten two pieces framed by Framebridge and I’ve been impressed by the quality, the reasonable price, and the very simple process! Again- not a sponsored post. Just giving you my real honest opinion here.

Speaking of opinion, as I mentioned in a previous post…everyone has a very specific opinion about art. I happen to adore Megan’s work but many people won’t. That’s perfectly fine with me. Other people’s opinions won’t influence whether or not I purchase one of these prints for my home. The moral of this story is: don’t bog yourself down with what your neighbor thinks, choose art that you love.

That’s all for this week! Of course I’ll be back next week with more styling tips and tricks that will get you one step closer to a home you love.
