Happy New Year friends!  There’s something special about a new year, right? It’s awash in hope and promise. What better way to celebrate the new year’s hopes and wishes than with a dreamy batch of watercolor magic from Dawn Trimble.

I discovered Dawn on Instagram a while back and scrolled through her feed changing my favorite about twenty seven times as I moved further down the screen.  Check out her posts here; I’m sure you’ll be hooked within the first ten seconds.

Dawn has transitioned from a career in interior design to a career as a full time artist, which seems to be her true calling. Of course I was delighted to see her featured in Atlanta Homes, my favorite magazine. Here’s an excerpt from her interview…

“Trimble [now] creates watercolors that are equally bold and delicate. She balances negative space with strong punctuations; subtle and sublime colors with punches of black. Trimble’s most recent collection, “Resilient Landscapes,” speaks to the events of the past year. “The world felt so uncertain in the spring of 2020 with the racial and health pandemics, and I wanted to express the rawness of those emotions in a creative way while pointing to hope,” says Trimble.

“We must possess a resilience from within to move through this space we all share.”

Trimble is now fulfilled personally and professionally as she pursues her passion while working from her home studio. “I’m an introvert, so I strive to make my thoughts visible with painting,” says Trimble. “When I paint, I’m in a pure place of expression.”

Dawn sells all of her paintings though her own site. She offers originals, as well as prints which come in various sizes. Here’s just a few of my favorites.

Why not treat yourself, and your empty wall, to one of Dawn’s beautiful paintings?! You'll be directly supporting a small business and more importantly, a black-owned small business. It will also get you one step closer to a home you love.

That’s all for this week, friends. I’ll be back next week, but meanwhile come hang with me on Instagram.

Wishing you a beautiful, and healthy, New Year!
